The Selection Committee will consist of three members of the Upton community who have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to service, leadership, and integrity. Committee members have been selected for their ability to evaluate applications fairly, objectively, and without bias.

There are four categories the selection committee will evaluate.

2. Leadership and initiative

3. Commitment to service

4. Character and citizenship

In the event of a tie, the committee will to into consideration the following:

• Community problem solving

  • Did the student identify a need and develop a solution?

• Lasting impact

  • Will the project or service initiative create enduring benefit to the community?

• Inspiration to others

  • Were other students recruited, organized, or motivated to serve?

• Future commitment

  • Does the student demonstrate a strong intention to continue serving the community?
